Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Tuesday said he had already ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the leakage of a resolution regarding the case involving Japanese gaming tycoon Kazuo Okada.
The resolution, which has yet to be released to the parties involved the case, was posted in social media last month.
“We have requested the NBI to investigate the leak,” Guevarra said in a text message to reporters. “I understand that Prosecutor [Amerhassan] Paudac has inhibited himself. So DOJ will handle any further motions or incidents in the Okada cases.”
Guevarra issued the order after Tiger Resorts Leisure & Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI) filed a motion before the Department of Justice (DOJ) last week requesting that it take over the probe from the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office.
TRLEI has sued Okada before the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office over unauthorized disbursements of more than $10 million of the company’s funds between early 2016 and June 2017. /atm
