Will Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte run for Vice President?
The President’s daughter was at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday for a hearing on the petition filed by her new party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (Alliance for Change), for recognition as a regional political party in Davao.
Asked by reporters in an ambush interview to reveal her future political plans, Sara said she is still considering whether or not to run again for public office.
“Wala pa. Depende kasi sa kalaban, depende sa pera, availability of funds, depende sa winnability. (No plans yet. It depends on who will run for election, the availability of funds, and winnability). It all depends on those factors,” the Davao City mayor told reporters.
Pressed further if she is open to any elective position, Sara answered: “Ahh yes. Vice President? Joke lang. Yeah, I’m open (to any position).”
President Rodrigo Duterte has not given any political advice to his children whether they should run in the 2019 and 2022 elections, according to Sara.
“He leaves it up to us if we really want to run for the 2019 elections,” she added. /ee
