This is how long Metro Manila’s five police district directors have to prove themselves to their newly appointed boss.
Director Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, announced on Monday that he was giving his district directors less than a month to make a case for their retention.
“I just got here so we will analyze and evaluate their performance,” Eleazar said.
“Within three weeks, there needs to be an improvement if they have shortcomings,” added the two-star general who was one of these five police district directors less than two months ago.
Eleazar headed the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) before he was appointed as Calabarzon police director in April.
During his speech, he said he was giving city police chiefs and station commanders in Metro Manila a shorter time frame of two weeks to shape up or be axed.
Fair warning
Eleazar reminded them that as QCPD director, he dismissed over 400 officers for their involvement in drugs and other abuses. “I will not hesitate to do it again here if need be,” he said.
But he also vowed to “personally guide and supervise” the five district directors who would in turn monitor their chiefs of police.
The current district directors are Chief Supt. Amando Clifton Empiso (Northern Police District), Chief Supt. Reynaldo Biay (Eastern Police District), Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr. (Southern Police District), Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel (QCPD) and Senior Supt. Rolando Anduyan (Manila Police District).
