The Philippine Atmospherical, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said several areas nationwide might experience cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms on Monday as public school students return to class.
In a bulletin, Pagasa said towns in the Eastern Visayan and Caraga Regions could experience moderate to heavy rain brought by a low pressure area (LPA) which may become a tropical depression (TD) within 24 to 48 hours.
If the LPA becomes a weather disturbance – the fourth to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this year – it will be named “Domeng.”
The LPA was last spotted at 655 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
In any case, forecasters said the likelihood of it making landfall was small.
According to the bulletin, areas in Palawan, the Bicol Region, and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
In Luzon and Metro Manila, isolated rain showers may occur due to localized thunderstorms.
The bulletin also said that Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao would experience moderate to strong winds, while light to moderate winds will be felt in Manila and the rest of Luzon. /cbb
