Wet school opening seen in parts of PH
The country’s weather bureau has advised parents and students in some parts of the country to prepare for rains when classes resume starting on Monday due to two low pressure areas (LPAs).
Occasional moderate to heavy rains were forecast to persist over Palawan and Mindoro, as well as the western sections of the Visayas and Mindanao, according to Vicente Molano, administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
He said the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao would have light to moderate rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, Molano said, would continue to have hot and humid weather “apart from isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.”
The two LPAs could develop into tropical cyclones in the coming week and trigger the onset of the rainy season, Molano said. —Melvin Gascon
