Silay City Charter Day

Residents of Silay City in Negros Occidental province, celebrate the city’s 61st charter anniversary. Weeklong festivities include a dance festival, a two-day food festival, poetry presentation, agro-industrial fair and street dance competition.

Abaca Festival

Culmination of the monthlong festival is with a rock music concert in the town of Bagamanoc, in Catanduanes province. Catanduanes is known to produce the finest grade of abaca hemp, which is one of its top industries. The festivities, which started on May 25, included an abaca farmers’ day and awarding of “cash-for-work” incentive.
