Bataan port manager slain
LIMAY, BATAAN – Armed men shot and killed the local manager of the Philippine Ports Authority on Friday (June 1) in a 5:30 p.m. ambush that left a woman seriously injured.
Froilan Abella, 60, was being driven to Bacoor town in Cavite province when armed men intercepted his vehicle and opened fire in front of the Petron Clinic in Barangay (village) Lamao.
Abella was rushed to the St. Michael Hospital in Orion town where he died.
The gunmen wounded a second passenger, Jocelyn Reyes, 49, who had undergone surgery and was in stable condition. Her 37-year-old husband, Christian Reyes, who was driving the vehicle, was not hurt.
The Limay police said a witness managed to record the attack. The dashboard camera of the vehicle is in the custody of police investigators. GREG REFRACCION
