NCRPO forms team to go after ‘15-30’ cops

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has formed an intelligence team that will monitor the performance of its 28,000-strong personnel, particularly to pin down absentee or moonlighting officers.

The NCRPO chief, Director Camilo Cascolan, on Tuesday announced the creation of the Special Team of Regional Inspectors and Key Evaluators (Strike), which will “randomly inspect, monitor, evaluate and validate the deployment and utilization of police officers in the Metro.”

The team will be led by Senior Supt. Benjamin Acorda, the NCRPO intelligence division chief, with members coming from the Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Personnel Records and Management Division and NCR Crime Laboratory.

They will start the random checks on police precincts and station anytime soon, said Cascolan, adding that the inspections would go after so-called “15-30” officers, or those who are busy with other jobs and show up only on paydays to collect their salaries.

The Strike teams will also conduct drug tests on the spot, he added. —Dexter Cabalza
