DID YOU KNOW: June is Dengue Awareness Month

June was declared Dengue Awareness Month under Proclamation No. 1204 signed in April 1998 by then President Fidel Ramos.

The proclamation highlighted how the prevention and control of dengue would require concerted efforts among national and local government agencies and the private sector.

According to the Department of Health, a total of 20,108 cases were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to March 10 this year.

In 2017, a total of 131,827 dengue cases were reported nationwide, of which 732 resulted in deaths. Marielle Medina
