3 dead, 4 hurt in road accident in Zamboanga Sibugay

PAGADIAN CITY – Three persons died while four others were injured when a utility truck collided with a Rural Transit bus in Barangay Upper Tungawan in Tungawan town, Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday.

The fatalities were identified as truck driver Generoso Villarin of Zamboanga City and his passengers, Rey Ybañez and Jason Sagrado.

Based on the report of the Tungawan police, the utility truck was traveling to Zamboanga City past 5 a.m. when it collided with the bus headed to Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police said Villarin may have dozed off while driving.

Injured were bus driver Alan Tulabing and three of bus passengers, identified as Fe Oral Lagumbay, a resident of Pagadian City; Nestor Castillo Gramatica, a resident of Zamboanga City; and Michael Lacasdesantos Eleno.

They were rushed to the Tungawan Municipal Health Center for treatment. /ee
