8 killed in Bulacan anti-crime operations

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, BULACAN – Eight suspects were killed by the police during simultaneous anti-crime operations in Bulacan from 12 midnight to 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Allan Dexter Dela Cruz and Larry Patricio were killed during an encounter with the police in Pandi town, said Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, acting police director of Bulacan.

Six other suspects, whose identities have yet to be released, were killed in the towns of Balagtas, Sta. Maria, Pulilan, and Obando.

Bersaluna also said 27 suspects were arrested in 8 other towns. The police had conducted 18 drug busts, made an arrest at a police checkpoint, and made another arrest when the police responded to a reported crime.

Details of the operations have not been released, but the Bulacan police office said it seized 62 sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth), 4 sachets of marijuana, and 9 firearms. /je
