SAN PEDRO CITY – Police arrested 11 persons in a suspected drug den in Cainta, Rizal early Wednesday morning.
Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Calabarzon police director, said policemen served a search warrant around 5:30 a.m. in Sitio Dulong Parola in Barangay San Andres.
The warrant, issued by Judge Agripino Morga of the Regional Trial Court branch 29 to 32 in San Pablo City, Laguna, named a certain Daniel Cabra Jr. as the illegal drug den “financier.”
Eleazar said the police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, arrested Cabra along with 10 other people.
They were identified as Bernie Tenedero, Jun Abeleda, Jamuel Calapotot, Martin Baluya, Lanie Rafol, Maricel Soriano, Ednalyn Calumpiano, Mary Amor Lingat, Jayson Zaidey Delos Santos, and Jonnel Arendon.
The police recovered 23 sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P136,000 and four sachets of suspected marijuana.
Supt. Arturo Brual, Cainta police chief, said locals have long referred to the area as “Little Tawi-tawi” situated on the boundary of Cainta and Pasig City.
“It’s a depressed community with very narrow alleys making it difficult for operatives to search the area. Most of the drug suspects we’ve arrested previously have come from that place,” Brual added.
The police also seized two .38 caliber revolvers from the suspects. MARICAR CINCO
