Wanted felon shot dead after fighting back with cops in Lucena

LUCENA CITY – Police shot dead a wanted criminal when he allegedly fought back against policemen here late Tuesday night.

Policemen armed with a warrant of arrest swooped on the house of Ruben Villanueva Amada alias “Adik” in Barangay Cotta around 11 p.m., Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said in a report.

But the authorities chanced upon their target and his 17-year-old partner and two other associates Jonathan Gonzales and Val Villanueva, while repacking shabu (crystal meth).

At this juncture, Amada allegedly grabbed his caliber .38 revolver and fired at the raiders who were forced to shoot back to defend themselves.

Amada died on the spot.

Police tagged Amada as a known drug pusher in the area.
