‘Duterte,’ 2 others slain in Laguna buy-busts
SAN PEDRO CITY – Three illegal drug suspects, among them an alias “Duterte,” were killed after putting up a fight with the police in Laguna on Wednesday.
Suspected drug pushers “Duterte” and a still unidentified man were killed in a buy-bust operation around 2:30 a.m. along Lepante road in Barangay Banay-Banay, Cabuyao City.
The suspects fired at the policemen but were killed as the law enforcers shot back, Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Calabarzon police chief, said .
The police recovered two guns of calibers .9 mm and .38 nn and six sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth).
About the same time in San Pablo City, drug suspect Jeffrey Tanaya was also killed during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Concepcion, around 2 a.m.
Tanaya reportedly shot the undercover police twice but missed. The police fired back and killed the suspect instantly, Eleazar said.
Recovered from Tanaya were a .38 caliber gun and five sachets of suspected shabu. /lb
