Malacañang on Tuesday welcomed the pending construction of a 2-kilometer monorail which would link the central business districts of Makati City and Taguig City.
In a statement, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the Makati-BGC Skytrain was a testament to the government’s efforts to usher in a golden age of infrastructure.
“Truly, it is ‘Build Build Build’ under the Duterte administration,” Roque said of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) endorsement of the Skytrain monorail project.
The project, proposed by Infracorp. Development Inc., was granted “original proponent status” by the DOTr.
The unsolicited proposal was submitted in October 2017. With the DOTr’s endorsement, the proposal would be submitted to the National Economic and Development Authority’s Investment Coordination Committee for a thorough review.
Roque said the Skytrain monorail project would connect the Metro Rail Transit 3’s Guadalupe station and Fort Bonifacio.
Targeted for completion in 2021, it is expected to be able to accommodate 60,000 to 100,000 passengers daily, he added. —Julie M. Aurelio
