Napolcom OKs promotion of 37,767 cops

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) announced on Tuesday the approval of the promotion of more than 37,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) officers.

In a statement, the Napolcom said it has given the green light for 34,145 regular promotions and 3,622 special or meritorious promotions for the ranks of Police Officer II to Police Senior Superintendent.

The promotions were approved after the Napolcom en banc approved Resolution No. 2018-255, Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao said.

Casurao said the resolution authorizes PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde to fill up the promotional vacancies in the second level ranks.

“The PNP promotion program is aimed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the police organization by selecting and appointing qualified Police Commissioned Officers and Police Non-Commissioned Officers to the next higher rank through merit and fitness,” Casurao said.

“The Commission enjoins the PNP to formulate the necessary promotion program to implement the aforesaid promotional quota and to strictly follow the existing policies and guidelines on promotion under NAPOLCOM Resolution No. 2013-501,” the Napolcom executive added. /je
