Games today (The Arena)
2 p.m. – San Sebastian vs. Adamson
4 p.m. – FEU vs. Letran
THE stepladder phase of the Sweet 16 of the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Champions League continue today with a blockbuster twinbill featuring the NCAA and UAAP runners-up, San Sebastian and Far Eastern University, taking on separate opponents at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Stags will be taking on the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the opener while the Tamaraws face the Letran Knights in the main offing. The Falcons and the Knights advanced to today’s matches by virtue of their wins last Tuesday. The Falcons dumped the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 73-58, while the Knights nipped La Salle, 66-61.
The Knights though, will be facing an uphill battle with the absence of star player, Kevin Louie Alas, who flew to the United States yesterday to train with the Los Angeles Slam of the American Basketball Association.
Letran will take on former UAAP MVP RR Garcia, Terrence Romeo and Aldrech Ramos with a roster that will be anchored on Kevin Racal, Jam Cortes and Raymund Almazan.
Adamson on the other hand will have their hands full taking on the Pinatubo trio of San Sebastian, namely NCAA MVP Calvin Abueva, Ronald Pascual and Ian Sangalang. And just like last Tuesday, Adamson will be walking on a tightrope regarding the schedule as Freego Jeans, the core of which is composed of several Falcons, have a game in the PBA D-League at 4 pm. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
