SAN PEDRO CITY – Two illegal drug suspects were killed in separate shootouts with the police in Cavite and Batangas provinces early Tuesday.

In Batangas, the shootout took place in Barangay Mahabang Dahilig in Lemery town around 3 a.m.

The police conducted a buy-bust operation that targeted the suspect identified only as alias “Nonoy,” said Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Calabarzon police.

The police were about to arrest the suspect but he tried to escape by driving away his car. Another team of policemen blocked the road, forcing the suspect to alight from his vehicle and open fire, investigators said.

Eleazar said police shot back and hit the suspect. He was rushed to the Batangas Provincial Hospital but died of multiple bullet wounds while undergoing treatment.

In Cavite, another drug suspect identified only as alias “Dinio” was killed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay A. Olaes, General Mariano Alvarez, around 2 a.m.

Eleazar said the police were about to arrest the suspect when he pulled out a gun and fired shots at the authorities. The police shot back and killed him.

The police recovered a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) worth P400 from the slain suspect. MARICAR CINCO
