A total of 2,843 out of 9,830 examinees passed the 2018 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) board exam, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced.
The PRC noted that the overall passing rate for the May 2018 CPA board examination was 28.92 percent.
Last year, the PRC recorded 35.13 percent passing rate of the same examination date.

Jayson Chan of St. Paul School of Professional Studies in Palo, Leyte emerged as the top notcher for the board exam with a percentage score of 92.50 percent.
He was followed by Jomari Jess Abellar, also a graduate of St. Paul School of Professional with a 91.67 percent rating and by Eddielyn Morfe of the Isabela State University – Echague and Stewart Herbie Po from the University of San Carlos who both got a 91.00 percent rating.
Meanwhile, De La Salle University, Manila, was declared as the top performing school with a passing percentage of 90.11 percent with 82 passers out of its 91 board examinees.
The results were released five workings days after the last day of the examination.
The CPA licensure exam was administered by the PRC Board of Accountancy and its members in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Tacloban, and Tuguegarao. /muf
