THE battered and bruised Freego Jeans hope to extend their winning streak to six when they take on the DUB Unlimited today in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup over at the Trinity University of Asia gym.
Freego is coming off a, 61-54 win over Cobra Energy Drink, a win made even more impressive given the fact that hours earlier, head coach Leo Austria and the rest of his players from Adamson University played in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
DUB Unlimited remains winless in four games but Austria said that the Wheelers have shown vast improvement lately and could spring a surprise.
Before their scheduled encounter, Austria and the core of Freego Jeans will banner the Adamson Falcons against the San Sebastian Stags at 1:30 p.m. in the knockout quarterfinals of the PCCL.
Apparently, the PCCL schedule is also the worry of NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez, who will have an undermanned lineup when the Road Warriors test the mettle of Big Chill at 2 p.m.
NLEX will be without Ronald Pascual, Ian Sanggalang and Calvin Abueva, who will play for San Sebastian College in the PCCL. This will be the Road Warriors’ first game in nearly three weeks since beating PC Gilmore, 85-61, in their kick-off game Nov. 7.
SEA Games team Pilipinas members Dave Marcelo, Cliff Hodge, Chris Ellis and Emmanuel Monfort are back in the lineup but Garvo Lanate is a doubtful starter with a shoulder injury while R.R Garcia will play for Far Eastern University also in the PCCL, according to Fernandez.
The Super Chargers (3-1), who lost to Café France (2-3), are hoping to bounce back to stay in the chase for an outright semifinal spot. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
