Since January 2011, the 60-kilometer-per-hour speed limit has been enforced on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and Macapagal Avenue in Pasay and Parañaque.
The speed limit aims to help curtail the high incidence of road accidents on Commonwealth Avenue and illegal drag racing and reckless driving on Macapagal Avenue.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority annual report, there were 3,277 violators on Commonwealth Avenue and 3,134 violators on Macapagal Avenue in 2017. —Marielle Medina
