Groups push RH dialogue
A MULTI-SECTORAL group that backs the controversial Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health and Population and Development Act of 2011 is seeking a dialogue with the Cebu Archdiocese on the issue.
In a press conference, the Catholics for Reproductive Health (C4RH) and other pro-RH bill advocates said details of the bill should be discussed to have a sound arguments about it.
“We want to tell them (Church officials) that we are not here to create conflicts. We are open (for the Church’s arguments),” said Leny Ocasiones of Gabriela-Cebu.
In a statement, the C4RH claims to defend and enhance human life through an education campaign for Filipinos on the meaning of human sexuality, marriage and responsible parenthood.
Poverty, they said, has been a hindrance to access modern and effective methods of family planning.
The Catholic Church continues to lobby against the RH bill, whose provisions include public access to government-funded supplies of condoms and contraceptives. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
