Calida mum on corruption allegations

Beleaguered Solicitor General Jose Calida kept mum on Monday on allegations of corruption being hurled at him, saying he would defend himself in a proper forum.

A security firm owned by Calida and family has reportedly bagged multi-million peso deals from several government agencies.

“I will defend myself in the proper forum, not here,” he said when reporters cornered him at the Senate.

The SolGen evaded several attempts of the media to interview him as he visited the offices of newly installed Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Senator Panfilo Lacson.

At one point, Calida was heard saying “none of your business” to a reporter’s question.

He also dodged questions on some senators’ calls for his resignation.
