Two employees of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) may soon get the axe after alleged involvement in corrupt activities.
LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III on Friday said they are already conducting a “thorough investigation” into the dealings of Jean Gunda and Amelia de la Cruz, both from the agency’s National Capital Region Office, so appropriate administrative charges may be filed against them.
Estafa case
Gunda is facing an estafa case after she allegedly charged taxi operator Rogelio Colita P175,000 to expedite his franchise application in 2016. When Gunda failed to deliver on her promise, Colita asked for his money back.
The erring LTFRB employee, however, could not pay him back in full and tried to negotiate to pay him P5,000 monthly. The victim declined and filed a case against her with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.
De la Cruz, on the other hand, is facing a complaint at the Ombudsman for dishonesty, grave misconduct and falsification of documents after she was caught on video extorting P250,000 from an unnamed complainant in exchange for a UV Express franchise.
