4 killed, 8 injured in North Cotabato blast Wednesday night
KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato, Philippines—Four people were killed while eight others were wounded when unidentified men lobbed a fragmentation grenade in a house in Midsayap, North Cotabato on Wednesday night, police said.
Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, provincial police chief, said the suspects tossed a hand grenade in front of the house of Dina Madrigal house at around 7:30 p.m.
Salinas said Hilario Villaflor, 60, died on the spot after sustaining several shrapnel wounds.
Three more died before reaching the hospital in Libungan town. They were identified as John Loyd Anza, 8; Isidro Awa, 40; and Eric John Querol, 12.
Wounded were Louie Grace Baran, 23; Rena Mae Baran, 3; Dina Madrigal, 57; Roda mae Sila, 19; Marvin Bayo, 20; Sofia Bianca Anza, 5; Franzbet Anza, 8; and Isidro Awa-III, 14.
Police recovered the safety lever and pin of the fragmentation grenade from the blast site.
