Grab asks LTFRB to reinstate P2/minute travel charge

Transport network company Grab Philippines has asked the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to reimpose the P2 per minute travel charge.

The travel time charge was suspended by the LTFRB in April amid a controversy after Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) partylist Rep. Jericho Nograles alleged that the firm owed its customers some P3.2 billion.

In its petition, Grab said the suspension of the travel time charge has given “unwarranted benefits, advantage and preference” to other transport network companies.

Unlike Grab, the latter were “allowed to impose per minute charges,” their petition stated.

“The suspension by the LTFRB of the per minute fare imposed by the petitioner is an infringement of the equal protection clause guaranteed by the Philippine Constitution,” it further stressed. /vvp
