Lightning kills man in Quezon, hurts two others

LUCENA CITY – A man died, while two others were injured, after they were struck by a lightning in  open sea in Calauag, Quezon on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Reynaldo Reyes, Calauag police chief, said Arnold Calaparan and five others were on board a motorboat when lightning struck and fatally hit Calaparan.

The incident happened while the group was sailing open sea fronting Barangay Atulayan around 2:00 p.m.

Police said Calaparan died on the spot while two of his companions, Luisito Calaparan and Vincent Magana, sustained injuries. The rest were unhurt.

Police said the group came from the coastal village of Dapdap going to Calauag town proper when  tragedy struck. /vvp
