16 hurt after Alabang-bound bus overturns in Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY – Sixteen people were being treated in a hospital in Tanauan City, Batangas province, after the bus they were riding in overturned along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway on Thursday afternoon.

The accident, involving a Dela Rosa bus, happened around 1 p.m. on STAR’s northbound lane in Barangay Bagumbayan in Tanauan City.

Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Calabarzon police, said the bus, bound for Alabang in Muntinlupa City, tried to avoid another vehicle, but the driver identified as Joselito Nono, “lost control” of the bus.

The bus swerved into a canal and overturned on the side of the road.

Eleazar said all 57 passengers were brought to the Mercado Hospital in Tanauan City for medical check up. Sixteen of the injured had to be  confined to the hospital due to injuries. Maricar Cinco/lb
