Infant, who lost parents to car crash, in need of breast mik, clothes, diapers
NAGA CITY – A nine-month-old boy, who survived after being thrown out of a car in a five-vehicle smashup in Libmanan town, Camarines Sur province on Tuesday (May 22), is in need of breast milk, diaper and clothes, after his parents died in the tragic accident.
Naoki William Peña, was with his parents Ronel and Susanne Maner, a Swiss national, when their Toyota Avanza, figured in an accident involving two passenger buses, an SUV and a truck in Barangay Mabini around 5:30 a.m. on May 22.
They came from Manila and were on their way home to Pili town.
His father Ronel died instantly, while his mother, Susanne, died Tuesday night, while being treated in the hospital.
The other fatality, who was on board the SUV, was identified as Leoncia Mangarin, 58, a public elementary school principal in Libmanan.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said 10 persons were also hurt in the accident, but four of them were already discharged from the hospital as of Thursday morning.
Article continues after this advertisementAisha Peña Namoro, Ronel’s cousin, said Naoki was still confined at the Mother Seton Hospital and would undergo casting for his fractured left leg.
He would also be treated after doctors found out that he was suffering from lung infection.
She said Naoki was in need of breast milk as he refuses to drink formula milk.
“We appeal to breastfeeding mothers to donate some milk to baby Naoki as it is essential for his faster recovery,” she said.
Namoro said Naoki, who would be taken care of by Ronel’s relatives, also need baby clothes and diapers.
