3 men killed in Laguna, Cavite drug sting

SAN PEDRO CITY – Three suspected illegal drug pushers were killed after putting up a fight with the police in Laguna and Cavite provinces, the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police said on Thursday.

In Laguna, Lorenzo Valdez was killed during a police buy-bust operation past midnight Thursday in Barangay Pooc, Sta. Rosa City.

Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said operatives recovered the .45 caliber gun, which Valdez allegedly used when he tried to shoot undercover policemen during the drug transaction.

In Cavite, suspect Richard Edlas was killed around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Bucana, Ternate.

Eleazar said that during the drug transaction, Edlas tried to shoot the undercover policeman he was dealing with, but he missed. This, however, prompted the police backup team to shoot Edlas down.

In Tanza, Cavite, another suspected drug dealer was killed in a police shootout in Barangay Paradahan 1 on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Eleazar, the suspect, identified only as alias Nato, was the first to fire at the police. The police said they recovered a sachet of suspected shabu worth P300 from the suspect.   /kga
