Only 25,602 or 10.71 percent of the 238,966 examinees passed the Career Service Professional examinations conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) last March 18.
The passing rate for the Career Service Sub-Professional examination given on the same day was slightly higher, with 11.20 percent or 4,573 out of 40,821 examinees passing the test.
The CSC said in a statement on Tuesday that the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) got the highest passing rate in the Professional level, with 1,388 passers (17.32 percent) from 8,014 examinees.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Region (NCR) bested other regions in the SubProfessional level, with 14.80 percent or 1,259 out of 8,506 examinees passing the test.
CY Rodriguez from NCR topped the professional level with a rating of 87.01 while Arvin Aliguin from Southern Tagalog topped the sub-professional level with a rating of 88.36.

The CSC said other regions with notable passing rates include: for the Professional level – NCR (17.10 percent), Central Luzon (13.39 percent), Southern Tagalog (11.81 percent), and Central Visayas (11.25 percent); and for the SubProfessional level – CAR (12.37 percent), Central Luzon (12.96 percent), Southern Tagalog (12.14 percent), and Western Visayas (10.70 percent).
The complete list of successful examinees of the March 18 CS exams may be accessed through the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph.
The CSC said Certifications of Eligibility (CoE) would be available by June 18 at CSC regional offices.
All examinees may generate their individual rating through the Online Civil Service Examination Result Generation System (OCSERGS) at the CSC website by June 1.
The successful examinees in the professional level may be appointed to “both first level (clerical) and second level (technical) positions in the government, including executive/managerial positions in the second level, provided they also meet the education, experience, training, and other requirements of the positions,” according to the CSC.
Meanwhile, those who passed the exam in the SubProfesssional level “may be appointed only to first level positions in the government.”
“Both the Professional and SubProfessional eligibilities are appropriate to positions that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by special laws,” the CSC said.
The next Career Service examinations will be held on August 12. Application period is ongoing until June 22. /ee
