Cops nab alleged ‘shabu’ distributor in Lucena

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested a suspected distributor of illegal drugs to street level pushers in a buy-bust operation here before midnight Monday, police said.

SPO1 Rosemarie Angcana, Lucena police public information officer, said Quezon police drug enforcement unit led by Supt. Dennis de Leon and local policemen, collared Danilo Visperas around 11:30 p.m. after he sold shabu to a police agent in a hotel in Barangay Ibabang Dupay.

Authorities seized eight plastic sachets of shabu, weighing 28.77 grams worth P129,465 in the street market, and the P500 marked money used in the transaction from the suspect.

“The suspect is one of the major suppliers of shabu to small-time drug pushers in different parts of the city,” an anti-illegal drug operative told the Inquirer.

He also said the illegal activities of Visperas were tipped off to the police by one of his street-level pushers, who earlier surrendered to authorities.           /kga
