LEGAZPI CITY — Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels shot and killed a former member of Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) on Sunday night in a remote village in Bulusan town in Sorsogon province, reports reaching Bicol police said on Monday.

Investigations revealed that victim Eduardo Embile, resident of Barangay (village) Barbara, was walking home from attending a dance at a neighboring barangay when he was attacked around 8:30 p.m. at Sitio (sub-village) Taisan, Barangay San Vicente, according to Sr. Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

She said the victim sustained bullet wounds on his head which killed him instantly. Residents reported they found the victim’s body sprawled along the road of the village.
