Drug suspect killed in shootout with QC cop

A 25-year-old drug suspect was killed after he fired at an undercover police officer during an entrapment operation at  Barangay Payatas in Quezon City on Saturday morning.

Quezon City Police District director, Chief Supt Joselito Esquivel, identified the suspect as Leo Gunayan who was tagged as a “notorious drug peddler in the area and neighboring barangays.”

Based on a police report, members of the Batasan Police Station 6 drug enforcement unit led by Supt. Joel Villanueva conducted a buy-bust operation with Gunayan as the target around 4 a.m. Saturday on Molave Street.

After selling P2,000 worth of “shabu”  (crystal meth) to the undercover police officer, Gunayan reportedly sensed that he was dealing with a lawman and drew his gun.

The two traded shots but the police officer hit Gunayan who died on the spot.

Recovered from the suspect were a .38-caliber revolver with two bullets, five sachets of shabu, a sachet of dried marijuana leaves and the buy-bust money. Jodee A. Agoncillo
