Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drillon thinks the Senate will be more assertive as an institution when Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III takes over as its president.
In an interview over AM radio DZBB on Sunday, Drilon said Sotto would be able to defend the Senate from attacks coming from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan, particularly those hurled by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
Last week, 14 senators signed a draft resolution electing Sotto in place of Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III as Senate president.
“I myself call out Koko Pimentel whenever he is not being assertive,” Drilon said in Filpino. “Pimentel should defend the institution.” /atm
