3 dead in Quezon road accidents
LUCENA CITY – Three people died in three separate road accidents in Quezon province on Saturday.
The Quezon police headquarters reported that a still unidentified woman, estimated to be around 35 to 45 years old, was seriously injured in an accident along Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Angeles in Atimonan town shortly before midnight.
Police said the unconscious victim, who sustained fatal head and body injuries, was hit by a passing vehicle. The victim died while being taken to the Doña Marta District Hospital.
In Calauag town, tricycle driver Gaudencio Flores, died on the spot after his vehicle collided with an incoming A&B Liner passenger bus along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Biyan at around 7 p.m. Bus driver Jeffre Ruz was detained at the Calauag police jail.
In Lucena City, jeepney driver Jonathan Viscayno also died after his vehicle rammed into an electric post in Barangay Kanlurang Mayao early Saturday morning.
Rescuers took the victim to the Quezon Medical Center at the city proper but died along the way. /ee
