Tarlac village chief nabbed for drugs

/ 03:25 PM May 18, 2018

TARLAC CITY – A village chief, who lost in the May 14 election, was arrested on Friday (May 18), when a police search recovered 2 small sachets and two bigger packages of suspected shabu (crystal meth) from his house in Barangay (village) Lourdes.

Barangay chair Edison Diaz, 41, claimed that the two large packages found hidden inside a cupboard in his room contained “tawas (potassium alum).”

Diaz was in the police drug watch list. The search warrant was enforced by the police at 10 a.m., but it took them two hours before they found the suspected contraband. The warrant was released by Regional Trial Court Judge Lily Devera-Vallo of Branch 64.

Diaz was brought to Camp Macabulos, the Tarlac police headquarters, for further investigation. MARIA ADELAIDA CALAYAG
