Senators are free to sign the resolution asking the Supreme Court to review its decision to unseat former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno through a quo warranto petition, Malacanang said on Thursday.
“The senators are free to sign such a resolution. The resolution of course forms part of their inherent legislative powers,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a Palace briefing.
As of Wednesday, 14 of the 23 senators have signed a resolution requesting the Supreme Court to review its May 11 ruling against Sereno.
The 14 senators who signed the resolution were Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, Franklin Drilon, Francis Pangilinan, Antonio Trillanes IV, Leila de Lima, Bam Aquino, Ralph Recto, Francis Escudero, Sherwin Gatchalian, Joel Villanueva, Grace Poe, Sonny Angara, Loren Legarda, and Risa Hontiveros. /muf
