Suspected robber shot dead in Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY – An alleged robber was killed, while his three other companions escaped, following a shootout with the police in Alfonso town, Cavite province early Thursday.

The shootout happened around 3 a.m. in Barangay Amuyong, according to Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar.

He said the Alfonso police received a report around midnight on Wednesday that robbers attacked the Olive Tree Villa, a private resort in Amuyong.

The police set up checkpoints in the vicinity until they chanced upon the said group.

Eleazar said the police warned the suspects to drop to the ground but one of them began firing shots. The police retaliated and killed one of the suspects.

The police recovered items believed to be stolen from the resort’s guests, like cellphones, wrist watches and cash worth P15,000.

The police also recovered a .38 caliber gun from the still unidentified suspect. MARICAR CINCO
