According to the Department of Health, Metro Manila accounted for 7.7 percent or 38 of the 494 leptospirosis cases reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to March 3 this year.
The region posted the fourth highest number of cases during the period.
Western Visayas had the most cases with 25.9 percent or 128 cases, followed by Zamboanga Peninsula with 15.2 percent or 75 cases and Davao Region with 13.6 percent or 67 cases. —Marielle Medina
