Suspected drug lord Peter Lim did not show up at the new round of Department of Justice (DOJ) preliminary investigation into the drug trading charges against him and five others.
His lawyer, Magilyn Loha, said Lim had threats to his life but did not elaborate.
Lim and the other respondents were supposed to submit their sworn statements to state prosecutors reviewing the drug case, which the DOJ dismissed in January.
“We could not risk that he be brought here because of the threat,” Lim’s lawyer told the prosecutors.
Only Kerwin Espinosa, a confessed drug lord currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation, showed up at the DOJ on Tuesday and submitted his sworn statement to the panel.
Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera, who heads the panel, gave all the respondents until May 30 to appear and submit their statements. —Dona Z. Pazzibugan
