Retired Ecija cop dies from heart attack after losing May 14 race
CABANATUAN CITY – A retired Cabanatuan police officer died at 4 a.m. on Tuesday (May 15) after suffering a heart attack hours after losing the May 14 race for village chair in Barangay MS Garcia.
Reynaldo Buan, 58, who retired in 2015 with the rank of Senior Police Officer 3, lost by over a hundred votes against his lone rival.
A relative said Buan was upset when he went to bed at 11 p.m. on Monday (May 14).
“He accepted his defeat. What bothered him was that people he counted on to vote for him, failed him,” the source said. The village has 3,780 registered voters.
Buan’s wife, Estelita, is an incumbent kagawad (barangay councilor) but she did not run in this election.
The father of two police officers and a teacher, Buan served the police for 32 years.
