Incumbent Barangay Chairman Alvin Mañalac, tagged by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as an alleged “narcopolitician,” lost his reelection bid in Tinajeros, Malabon.
According to the Commission on Elections’ local office in Malabon, incumbent Barangay Councilor Ryan Geronimo won the chairmanship with 3,216 votes, beating Mañalac by over a thousand votes.
Mañalac came in second with 2,151 votes, followed by village councilor Alex Centeno with 1,696 votes.

The PDEA had included Mañalac in a drug watch list released on April 30.
The embattled barangay executive is facing a string of complaints filed by the PDEA before the Office of the Ombudsman over a raid of a methamphetamine laboratory in Tinajeros in April.

According to Ismael Fajardo, PDEA regional director for National Capital Region, Mañalac landed on the list for failing to identify the drug personalities in his barangay and for failing to have their area declared as “drug-free.”
PDEA Director Aaron Aquino had earlier said Mañalac’s failures constituted acts of being a coddler or protector of drug lords. /vvp
