Dole sets pay guidelines for May 14 special holiday
The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) reminded employers to strictly observe the rules on the payment of wages for the May 14 special nonworking holiday.
The Dole issued the pay rules as voters troop to polling precincts for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
The Dole reiterated the following rules: If an employee did not work, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply unless there is a company policy granting payment on a special day.
For working during the special day, workers shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their daily rate on the first eight hours of work.
For work done in excess of eight hours, workers will be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate on the said day.
For working during the special day that also falls on the workers’ rest day, they shall be paid an additional 50 percent of their daily rate on the first eight hours of work.
