De Lima cites women who lost kids in drug war

/ 05:30 AM May 14, 2018

Detained opposition Sen. Leila de Lima dedicated Mother’s Day on Sunday to the thousands of women who lost their children in the government’s brutal war on drugs.

In a statement, De Lima, one of the fiercest critics of President Rodrigo Duterte, urged the public to remember mothers unwittingly victimized by the state by losing their children in the drug war.

De Lima, a mother of two, also asked the Filipino people to “pray for guidance and continued courage for mothers who are experiencing abuses and working abroad to provide better opportunities for their loved ones.”

De Lima said she knew from experience that any mother in the world would think about the welfare of her children first, rather than herself, in whatever kind of situation. —DJ Yap
