Two men known by their aliases were killed in an alleged encounter with Quezon City policemen after a supposed drug bust on Saturday.
The deaths of “Eric” and “Tikboy” brought the total number of kills in the city police’s reported drug-related encounters to 348 since July 2016, the start of the Duterte administration’s bloody war on illegal drugs.
A report to Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel, director of the Quezon City Police District, said the alleged shootout happened at 2:35 p.m. at the corner of Mauban and Banawe Streets in Barangay Manresa.
After the drug deal, the two men reportedly “sensed” the presence of other policemen and traded shots with them.
Authorities recovered a sachet of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P10,000, two handguns and a motorcycle from the slain suspects. —Jhesset O. Enano
