2 killed, security guard hurt in Quezon robbery attempt

LUCENA CITY – Two suspected thieves were killed while a security guard was hurt during a robbery attempt in a public school in Unisan town in Quezon province Saturday night, police said.

The report from the Quezon police office said Marlon Villapando Marino, a security guard at Caigdal National High School Campus in Barangay Caigdal, caught the three robbers inside the school campus around 9:30 p.m.

The suspects shot Marino, hitting him in the abdomen. Though wounded, he was still able to describe the robbers to responding policemen who immediately conducted hot pursuit operation.

The cops caught the suspects in Barangay Ilayang Cabulihan. After a gun battle, two of the suspects were killed, while one was able to flee.

Police are conducting operations to find and arrest the last suspect. /ee
