DAVAO CITY – President Duterte on Monday will use the same wooden armchair he sat on when he voted in the 2016 national and local elections.

Arlene Pernes, principal of the Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School in Matina in Talomo district here, said the wooden armchair would be taken out of its glass encasement in time for Duterte’s voting in the barangay elections.

Pernes said security was tight in and around the school and that crowd control would also be enforced when Duterte votes on Monday.

Officials expect a large number of people to troop to the school because of the President’s presence, similar to when he voted in 2016.

Duterte remained largely popular here, where he served as mayor, vice mayor and representative for about 23 years. /cbb
