Blast injures 10 persons in Jolo, Sulu
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Ten persons were injured when an improvised explosive device went off in Barangay San Raymundo in Jolo, Sulu on Friday evening.
Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, the commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu, said on Saturday the explosion took place inside the JNB Sari Sari store and videoke bar at Sitio Martirez in Barangay San Raymundo past 7 p.m.
“Ten (10) persons who were on drinking inside the said bar at the time of the explosion were injured. Their wounds are not life threatening but still they were immediately brought to the (Integrated Provincial Health Office) hospital in Sulu for medical attention,” Sobejana said.
The Sulu Provincial Police Office was investigating the blast to determine the identities of the culprits and their motive.
Sobejana said the investigation showed the cause of the explosion to be an improvised explosive device, which was remotely detonated.
