THE Cebu City Council approved the proposed P18-million budget for the 75th Charter Day Celebration next year.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the awarding of 75 families who have made significant contributions to the city’s growth and development.
Cebu City will turn 75 on Feb. 24, 2012.
In a press conference, Cebu City at 75 search committee vice chairperson Alice Queblatin said the Charter Day activities would focus on the achievements of the families.
“One example would be a photo exhibit on their achievements and what they have done in the past up to the present. It will be held in malls for the general public,” Queblatin said.
Queblatin said they would also conduct memorial lectures in universities focusing on family values.
“We are open to the public. Tracing the roots of these families will help them know each other better and enjoy one’s company,” Queblatin said
Search committee chairperson Lourdes Jepeza said the Charter Day celebration would be whole year round. “The mayor approved of it,” she said. /Correspondent Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
